The towns of Mirepoix, Limoux andCastelnaudry are all nearby and well worth exploring. A 45-minute drive takes you to the Mediterranean coast, with beaches at Narbonne Plage and along the coast towards Cap d`Adge or Perpignon. Barcelona can be reached in around 2 1/2 hours.
